The outing will take you on a tour of the area north of Orangeville, bobbing and weaving through the fabulous Niagara Escarpment.

The rally will end at Doug Hankinson’s warehouse, culminating in a wonderful meal cooked on an open grill and served on the most elegant of recyclable dinnerware. There will be liquid refreshments available as well.

The rally will require a driver and at least two observers (observant observers would be helpful.) The idea is to look for clues, collect stuff and second-guess the judges. You don’t have to drive fast.   Do you know how many times we’ve been asked “What should we take with us on the car rally?” Well, actually, no one asked but we felt it was important to address this issue anyway. In order to answer this burning inquiry, we turned to the famous Internet Psychic (High Priestess ~ Balandria Jakobine). After much eye closing and murmuring over her crystal ball (and 20 bucks, Visa and MasterCard accepted), here are her recommendations although not all will be required:

$20 in small change,  16 inches of 1/4 inch re-bar,  20 ohm resistor,  8 lbs of gravel,  9 volt battery,  a sense of humour,  baking soda,  balance,  binoculars,  calculator,  callipers,  compass,  dictionary,  drinks,  axe,  duct tape,  encyclopaedia,  extra brain,  Handbook of Chemistry and Physics,  jack hammer,  lemon,  book of Ontario Trees,  maps of the Orangeville Area and perhaps Siberia,  pocket knife,  multimeter,  phone book,  registry of historical places,  rhubarb,  safety goggles,  self,  sextant,  snacks,  SPF 27 sunscreen,  tape measure,  telephone,  an internet connection,  toilet paper,  towel,  tranquilizers,  twine,  Vaseline or other lubricant,  vehicle,  wrench,  pencil and paper,  more drinks,  11X17 paper and stone rubbing charcoal.
