PRESIDENTS

We will kick off the new Optimist year beginning October 1st with two presidents who bring a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the club. They will inspire members to get involved, stay motivated, contribute, and make their voices heard.

I’m a proud Dufferin County native with an extensive business background and a strong passion for giving back to the community I call home. I’m also a parent to 2 adult children, and I love being part of a community where people come together to support one another.
When I’m not volunteering, you’ll often find me out kayaking, spending time with friends, or enjoying a great live music show. What I enjoy most about being part of the club is the opportunity to meet great people, have some fun, and see firsthand how our efforts can make a difference in the community. I’ve been a member of the club for four years and am excited about what’s ahead. I’m looking forward to working alongside Ron, welcoming new members, and making this a fun and active year filled with events and activities that make a real difference — especially in the lives of the youth in our community.

President Ron Smith

I've lived in Orangeville for 7 years, and married to my wonderful wife for over 48 years.
I have 2 adult children and 2 adult grandsons.
A proud member of the Orangeville Optimists for approximately 3 years, preceded by 13 years with the Erin Optimist Club.
Retired now, my working career spanned over 50 years, primarily in metal fabricating, in estimating, sales, and eventually company ownership.

My Optimist Club membership has brought me friendship and kinship with an outstanding group of dedicated volunteers, giving of their time to the betterment of our local community and particularly and most importantly the youth in that community.
